Be Happy, Travel Safe

Minions at Central Station

The "Be Happy, Travel Safe" campaign, designed to prevent accidental slips, trips and falls in and around Sydney trains will see the Minions bringing their trademark fun and handy safety tips to customers.

Sydney Trains Chief Executive Howard Collins joined customers at Central Station today, to welcome the Minions to Sydney and officially launch the campaign.

"With the help of the Minions', we want to share an important message with Sydney commuters which is to be happy, keep your cool and slow down in train stations. Don't go bananas and stay safe around trains." Mr Collins said.

The Minions will be helping Sydney Trains to spread the word about the risk of rushing and being distracted within a train station, with the following key messages for consumers:

  • Follow the Minions and keep your cool, slow down, and mind the gap on the platform.
  • Got Luggage? Use the lifts.
  • Stay Cool: Don’t rush for the train.
  • Busy Tweeting? Watch your step.
  • Another train will be here soon. Chill out don't rush.
  • Unsure what to do with your hands? Hold onto the hand rails.
  • Don't expose yourself (to danger). Stay behind the yellow line.

To support the campaign, Sydney Trains is increasing the presence of its staff on platforms in an effort to reduce the number of incidents across the networks.

We are also working with a range of different customer groups, such as parents, students, the elderly and people with mobility issues, to deliver a safer experience for all of our customers.

As trains are a part of our everyday lives, it's important to make sure you're up to speed with how to stay safe around them. Please visit the Safety and Education section for more information.
