Update on Blue Mountains Line

Posted: Wednesday 6 July 2011

Strong winds have caused major disruptions to the rail network in the past 24 hours.

Trains are expected to remain suspended between Katoomba and Lithgow on the Blue Mountains Line until Monday, after a train was damaged by a fallen tree at Medlow Bath.

Buses are continuing to replace trains between Katoomba and Lithgow in both directions. Moderate delays are expected in the affected area.

The XPT at Blackheath that was also struck by a fallen tree last night is expected to be moved tomorrow. Coaches will replace CountryLink XPT services until the line is open.

Repair crews are working around the clock to restore services on the Blue Mountains Line as quickly as possible.

CityRail thanks customers for their patience. Passengers are advised to allow additional travel time when travelling through the area and listen to station announcements for the latest information.

Customers should check or call 131 500 for updates.
