Need help boarding? Use the sixth carriage

Posted: Friday 17 December 2010

Customer using a train boarding rampIf you need help boarding or alighting suburban trains, we now recommend you use the sixth carriage of your train.

There's more space available for your wheelchair, scooter or pram in the vestibules (the single-deck area at each end) of the sixth carriage.

As always, contact your departure station ahead of time to let us know your needs and travel plans, so we're ready to assist you. Arrive at the station well before your train is due and make yourself known to staff. Be sure to let the guard know where you're travelling to.

Boarding arrangements for intercity and regional trains have not changed: continue to board near the guard's compartment.

This information is a recommendation only. Staff will continue to assist you no matter where you wait on the platform.
