Free WiFi hotspot trial at Circular Quay

Free WiFi hotspot trialFor a trial period, customers using Circular Quay Station (Platforms 1 & 2) are now able to access free wireless internet.

You can catch up with the latest news, browse your favourite websites, check your email or get the latest transport information at www.cityrail.info and www.131500.com.au.

We're committed to improving our service to customers and exploring ways to provide new services like WiFi.

Circular Quay Station has been chosen for this trial as it's one of our busiest stations and an interchange for ferries and buses.

How to connect

Follow these simple steps to start surfing the net.

  1. Turn on your device's Wi-Fi connection. Select CityRail WiFi Trial and connect. It's that easy!
  2. Open your browser, visit any webpage and you will be redirected to a welcome page detailing our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Please take a minute to read these.
  3. Click "I Agree" and you can start your free internet session.

Useful connection tips

  • Your device must be compatible with current WiFi standards (802.11b/g/n)
  • Configure your WiFi device to obtain an IP and DNS server address automatically
  • Our welcome page should appear automatically when you first open a web browser/page
  • Can't connect? Try "repairing" your connection
  • To log out, close your web browser (the session will timeout after 5 minutes) or type http://logout in the address bar

Frequently asked questions

What's a WiFi hotspot?
A WiFi hotspot gives you a wireless internet connection using radio waves to communicate between your device and the hotspot. You can surf the internet wirelessly once connected to the WiFi hotspot.

Why is a WiFi hotspot being trialled by CityRail?
CityRail's free WiFi hotspot is a value-added service for customers. We will use this trial to get your feedback and explore opportunities to expand this service.

Where can I use it?
WiFi is available on platforms 1 and 2 of Circular Quay Station for three months.

How do I use it?
You will need a laptop, netbook, tablet PC or smartphone that is compatible with current WiFi standards (802.11b/g/n).

Is it secure?
The hotspot provides open access to the internet. This means we can not guarantee security or privacy.
If using a PC on the internet, always use anti-virus and personal firewall software.

Are there any time and download limits?
Yes, time and download limits apply. You can enjoy FREE access for up to 20 minutes in the morning from 4am until 12noon, and up to 20 minutes after 12noon until 1am. Your data usage is limited to 50MB per day.
