Peak hour folding bike trial

Customer placing their folding bike in a bag For a trial period, if you're travelling with a folding bike (subject to size restrictions) you may travel on CityRail trains at peak periods without the need for an extra rail ticket for the bike. The trial ends on 31 January 2010.

To benefit from free travel for your folding bike, you will need to ensure the following guidelines are met:

  • The bike must be folded and carried in a bag prior to boarding.
  • The folding bike (in its bag) must not exceed the following size limit:
    79cm length x 59cm height x 36 cm width.
  • The folding bike must not obstruct passageways or doorways and not inconvenience other passengers.

Please note that this concession only applies to CityRail train services. It excludes:

  • Customer with their folding bike in a bagCityRail bus services (in both directions):
    • Toronto to Fassifern
    • Loop Line Bowral to Picton
    • Wollongong to Moss Vale & Bundanoon
    • Bathurst to Lithgow
  • Replacement bus services during trackwork
  • NightRide buses

If travelling with another size of bike at peak times (6.00am to 9.00am and 3.30pm to 7.30pm on weekdays), you will need to purchase a child's ticket for the bike in addition to your own ticket.

At all other times and at weekends, no extra ticket is required.
