Customers using Burwood Station will be pleased to learn that a $17.5m Easy Access upgrade will begin on Monday 9 March.

Features of the upgrade include:

  • four new lifts;
  • upgraded ramps to the concourse;
  • extension of the station platforms to the new lift entrances;
  • a new family accessible toilet;
  • additional ticket gates;
  • new passenger information screens; and
  • improvements to station lighting and CCTV cameras.

So far, more than $480m has been invested in upgrading 97 stations across the network under the Easy Access program.

Changes to station access and facilities

The southern entrance through to the concourse will close for approximately six months. This will enable the new station entrance and lift to Platforms 4 and 5 to be built, as well as the installation of the new ticket gates.

The toilets will close for approximately seven months and new toilets will be built. During this time please use the public toilets provided at Burwood Park (approximately 450m to the north along Burwood Road).

CityRail apologises for any inconvenience caused and looks forward to providing you with an improved station in mid-2010.
